V Festival line up bores music fans

Festival goers have taken to social media following the initial announcement of V Festival’s  lineup for this summer.

The line-up is set to include rapper Jay Z and pop-star Pink as headline acts. Other performers include Rudimental, Craig David, Dizzee Rascal, Jason Derulo, Clean Bandit, The Vamps and Scouting for Girls.

Social media reaction has been mixed. One tweet read: “Reading & Leeds n V fest are clearly in competition for who can announce the worst line up each year” gained popularity with 30 retweets and 87 favourites.

Another tweet used a meme to display similar sentiments about the line-up.

However, on Facebook there was some positive reactions. One user wrote: “Jay Z headlining V fest is possibly the best news I’ve ever received on a rainy Monday. Where are my wellies at”


This will be Jay Z’s first return to the UK since his Magna Carter world tour in 2013.

Another Facebook user wrote: “V Fest your line up never fails to keep me coming back for more! V Fest 2017 I think!”


The festival will be held from Saturday 19 – Sunday 20 August at Weston Park in Staffordshire and Hylands Park in Chelmsford.

The line up has been released ahead of tickets becoming available for pre-sale customers tomorrow morning. They will be available solely for Virgin Red customers. General release will be available from Friday 3 March at 9am.

Ticket prices have yet to be announced.
