Pep Guardiola, currently the manager of the Budesliga club Bayern Munich, will decide his professional future by the end of this month.
The Catalan coach is facing pressure from the German club to decide by the 23 of December if he remains in Bayern Munich or leaves for a job in the Premier League.
After weeks of speculation by different journalists linking him to almost all of England’s top clubs, it is almost certain that he will leave Bayern for Manchester City next summer when his contract is set to expire.
Marti Perarnau, a Spanish journalist close to Pep Guardiola, and many others suggested that Guardiola already has a contract with Manchester City.
This is a real possibility not only because of its wealth but also because of his link with City’s chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain. They are good friends of Guardiola and worked with him at Barcelona before joining City.
Begiristain was the one who persuaded the Barcelona board to appoint Guardiola as coach in 2008. Under his guidance, the Catalan club lived a period of exemplary triumphs winning three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.
It is also worth to remember that Begiristain and Soriano departure from Barcelona was one of the reasons why the former Barcelona manager decided to put an end in his career at the Catalan club.
In addition, Manchester City it’s also a challenging option for Guardiola because the English club has never won a Champions and that would be Guardiola’s main objective.
On the other hand, it is known that Guardiola wants to go to a club with strong football tradition, the main lack of Manchester City, which is only renowned since the last ten years thanks to the investment of Arabs sheikhs in the club.
That makes Manchester United a possibility because it has a great historic football tradition and much more prestige than City. Moreover Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is not doing a good job after Ferguson’s retirement two years ago.
However there is a chance that Pep Guardiola will stay in Bayern at the request of his wife, Cristina Serra, who doesn’t want to move to another city again just after two years living in Munich.
