There were 10,156 asylum applications in the UK during the third quarter of 2015. At the same period in 2014 there were less than 7,000 (source: refugeecouncil.org).This increase of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK poses the problem of accommodation. While waiting for an asylum decision, asylum seekers are not allowed to work so accommodation is provided by the government, according to a research briefing from the House of Commons Library. If an asylum seeker gets the status of refugee then he is “eligible to work and access mainstream welfare benefits” and needs to find accommodation.     According to the Refugee Council charity, around 36% of the asylum decisions made gives the status of refugee.
