Rosetta Stone Would it be back to Egypt?

The Rosetta Stone is one of the most important Egyptian artifacts that helped in reading the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.

It was discovered in Rosetta in Egypt by a French soldier during Napoleon Bonaparte’s Egyptian campaign. And it ended up displayed in the British museum.

In 2003 zahy hawas who used to be the director of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Cairo, began negotiations with academics and curators at the British museum asking to have it back in Egypt, but he failed. And then the topic died for a while.

Now the Egyptian government is building a new grand museum in El Giza that would be much bigger than the main one El Tahrir. On this occasion Egyptians are wishing to have the Rosetta stone back to Egypt to be displayed in this new Museum.
