Ten suspects on mopeds smashed into Apple's flagship store on Regent Street just after midnight Monday morning stealing gadgets worth thousands of pounds. Police were called at 00:45 AM on Monday, 13 November, to reports of an aggravated burglary, according to the Department of Media and Communication of the Met. It is reported that the incident happened around 00:40 AM, when the Apple store on Regent Street was broken into. Ten suspects on five mopeds were reported to having smashed their way into the store and taking apple products including phones, tablets and Apple watches. The fashion of Gele, a traditional head wrap from Nigeria, has arrived in London, as a group of African women organised a workshop on how to tie it. Around 20 women joined the workshop, bringing cloths and drapes and wearing typical colourful clothes for the occasion. The majority of them were from Nigeria, but also some English and German women took part in the event. The workshop took place on Sunday 29 October in Dalston, North-East London, during the Black History Month celebration party of the social centre for migrants, Akwaaba. From today Spotify sells more than just music and related official merchandise. Users who visit the service to stream tracks by US singer songwriter Maggie Lindemann, will now be offered the chance to buy the same make-up she wears. Cosmetics company Pat McGrath Labs teamed up with the music streaming app in what Spotify plans to be the first of many e-commerce collaborations. Details for the products will appear in the same area where music lovers can buy gig tickets and band T-shirts. Lindemann has 7.5m monthly listeners on Spotify and 2.4m Instagram followers. Pictures on the wall show people standing in the countryside with remanence of human intrusion. At the back of the exhibit is the main event; six screens that interweave the story of human existence and its relationship with the environment. John Akomfrah’s 'Purple' blends archival footage with his own material to create a montage of ideas and perspectives on the issue of climate change. The film is displayed over six screens and combines powerful visual and audio to shock the senses of the viewer. With so many different stimuli, the viewer must have a fine-tuned ability for finding the key aspects within the work.
A spreadsheet with a list of 36 ‘Sex Pest’ MPs has been published by leading right wing blog, Guido Fawkes. Since the release of the spreadsheet Prime Minister Theresa May has called on leader of the Commons Speaker John Bercow to comment on the scandal and “ensure the reputation of Parliament is not damaged further by allegations of impropriety.” May in her letter to Bercow described the current system for dealing with complaints surrounding sexual allegations as lacking the “required teeth” and that the system is “simply not fair on staff, many of whom are young and in their first job post-education.” May herself is calling for tougher and more efficient procedures when it comes to dealing with the sexual harassment of women working in Westminster. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) launched this month a new anti-sexism campaign called #FirefightingSexism, which promotes the switch from the masculine 'fireman' label to the gender neutral 'firefighter' when referring to the profession. The campaign, which already gained significant traction on social media, aims to eradicate stereotypes that firefighting is exclusive to men. The LFB cited internal research that revealed there are still women put off by the job because of the label and its masculine portrayal in the media. Dany Cotton, the first female Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade, is spearheading the drive toward a more diverse LFB. “One thing for me that I still find really upsetting is the fact that lots of people still use the word ‘fireman’,” said Cotton on BBC Radio 4’
Regulators have sent letters to more than 450 online gambling sites to immediately amend or remove advertisements appealing to children. William Hill and Bet365 are few to be named. The joint letter sent by the Gambling Commission, the Advertising Standards Authority, the Committee of Advertising Practice and the Remote Gambling Association said the companies needed to advertise responsibly. The Regulators said its “unacceptable” to exploit children by advertising brightly colored and appealing cartoon characters.
